Ms. Moffit’s version of this classic focus much on the passion of the characters and how their their stalwart adhesion to formal decorum masked these from others. Doing this show in the round put much of the emphasis on the floor treatment, a treat for me! For such a realistic play, I got to play a lot with abstract tones and shapes. To go along with the themes of heredity and family, we outlined our space with frames and even had some handed out to the audience members when visiting Lady Catherine’s estate.
